There’s a significant chance that the answer to this question is yes (or that it resonates with your subconscious). I believe that we all carry a capacity for empathy in our natural state of being. It feels very natural and “logical” that we have this gift.
At the same time, this capacity for empathy develops in a different way for everyone. To recognise your true nature, it can help to become aware of your qualities as an empath make use of them.
Could you describe an empath, you might be thinking? And if yes, what words would you use?

In her book, ‘Am I an empath?’, Stephanie Red Feather provides a nice description.
These words might make it clear for you, and you might recognise yourself in them:

“An empath is a person who has chosen, on soul-level, to incarnate with certain features that can manifest to varying degrees:
*an open energy field
*a highly sensitive nervous system
*the ability to observe subtle energies
*a strong need for peace and harmony
*a deep desire to be of service
Empaths easily pick up on non-verbal signals and subtle energies of all kinds of material and immaterial life forms, by sensing, by knowing, through physical sensations or a combination of these things’.’

It’s possible that you’re not aware of these things in your day-to-day life. Or maybe you do, in which case you know that the life of an empath can be challenging! Maybe you’ve come to a point where you (no longer) know who you are yourself. Or maybe you often feel uncomfortable, because you’re so good at sensing what’s happening ‘’beneath the surface’’. You often doubt yourself, you’re scared to be the odd one out, and you often feel like there’s something wrong with you.
In our everyday lives, always moving at a rapid pace, we deal with a lot of stimuli on a daily basis. As an empath, it’s easy to get lost in those, and dealing with all these stimuli can be extra difficult.
Maybe you now recognise yourself in the energy of an empath. This can feel like coming home to a place that is so familiar, but has simply been invisible for so long, maybe from you as well.

It’s also possible that you’ve tucked away a large part of your qualities, and that you’re now struggling with that. I know how tough this struggle is.
As an empath, you will deal with big challenges. For starters, putting up boundaries and taking care of your energy are very important concepts for you. Maybe you could use some help, and I’d be happy to guide you.
No matter which phase you’re in or what road you’re on, you’re not alone. You are here for a special reason. Whether you identify as an empath or not, your presence is a wonderful gift.
