Perhaps you wonder why I ask this odd question! Let’s first look at it metaphorically.
Picture this: let me take you to… under the sea… to the colourful underwater world to Ariel, the Little Mermaid, who dreams of living in the human world and has her magical adventure. Where the devious Ursula, gives Ariel her legs to live among the humans on land but takes away her voice as payment.
Once on land, the little mermaid has no voice to communicate. She experiencing a world in which she doesn’t understand how to handle the “human things” and combs her hair with a fork. And the adventure continues. Do you remember her tale?
Maybe this tale (it is my favourite) has many more layers and lessons but for now, I want to link it to our times, the moment we live in now. And in which I would love to meet you.

In my everyday life, I regularly feel a bit alien and out of touch. Attracted to water, the sea, and the mysteries of life – I often felt uncomfortable, as if I didn’t quite “fit in”. And thus, wanting to fit in so badly, I started to adjust to my social environment. Without realising it, I ended up hiding my true self and losing my voice – just like Ariel, amazed, maybe awkward at the same time, feeling I was so utterly different from “everyone else”.

Naturally, and luckily, I do know that forks are used for eating and that we fix our hair with a comb or hairbrush.
Still, many other daily activities and motor skills can baffle me. When I was young, I never managed to use a pair of scissors, opening a can with a can opener is a chore for me. I don’t always know how to operate doors, with complicated locks, or in tram and metro. Button panels in lifts, and fancy taps or other large devices tend to confuse me.
You may think this all sounds a bit lame as it may not sound that unusual.

But for me, these things often created stressful situations. And precisely because this stress gets lodged in such “natural” activities or tasks, people didn’t quite understand me.
For me, however, one’s psyche, spirit, mindset and awareness are very familiar concepts. To me, it makes perfect sense that our thoughts and convictions are not who we are but that we can observe or bear witness to them. In my experience, everything is made of energy and, subsequently, everything influences everything else. We exude energy and that energy also (often subconsciously) transmits from one person to another. I believe we are all unique while being part of a greater whole at the same time.
I also often feel certain atmospheres and can be aware of sounds or even other people’s feelings, which can be very overwhelming, particularly when this other person is not or doesn’t want to be aware of their feelings.
I pick up the contrast between what goes on outwardly and who we truly are from a higher and enhanced consciousness. I often sense how we tend to put up walls and rather avoid showing our true colours to others, and that greatly affects me.
We generally avoid a deeper connection with ourselves or others.
Because it is clear to me that, deep down, we are made of love. So to help people find the love within themselves and (re)connect (again), I decided to set up my practice as an Energetic Therapist and Coach. I wish for us all to live from our hearts and raise our heart awareness.

So I also wrote this story for you – if you feel it touches you in whatever way, if you’re curious or searching, feel lost or just don’t know how to move forward at times.
I also want my story not only to be an interpretation of how complicated the world can be in all its “simplicity” but also an ode to experiencing the beauty that lies within.

“Live to Love”

With Love, Amy
